Use your dockside power safely and efficiently.
Your
Grady's dockside hookup allows you to safely connect to shore power to
run your onboard electrical equipment and appliances. Make sure you know
how to use dockside power before your next outing.

The dockside power feature allows the use of alternating current (AC)
electrical equipment aboard the boat. This equipment includes any
permanently installed appliances such as a battery charger or water
heater, or it may be a household item plugged into a receptacle. The
dockside power is utilized by connecting the shore cord supplied with
the boat to an appropriate external power source and to the boat’s AC
inlet that is wired to the AC panel. The AC panel allows for
distribution to the various appliances and outlets. See your owner’s manual
for wiring diagrams and specifics as well as all 120V outlet locations
aboard your Grady-White. An optional international AC (220V 50Hz)
factory conversion is available; ask your dealer about this option.
THE MOST IMPORTANT SAFETY RULE IS: Always disconnect the dockside power cable shore cord if leaving the boat unattended for an extended period of time.
Connecting the dockside power:
- Verify that the external power source is a 3-wire grounded system
with amperage and voltage ratings compatible with the boat’s AC system
ratings.
- Be sure there is sufficient cable length to allow for normal movement between the boat and the dock.
- Turn all AC panel switches (including the appropriate distribution
switch) to the "off" position. Turn the circuit breaker under the
starboard gunwale to "off." Turn the circuit breaker at the dock outlet
to "off."
- Connect the dockside power cable at the boat inlet first.
- Connect the dockside power cable at the dock outlet and turn the dock outlet circuit breaker to "on."
- Turn the circuit breaker under the starboard gunwale to the "on"
position. (Test the circuit breaker monthly by pressing the test button
and then resetting.)
- Turn the shore circuit breaker on the AC panel to the "on" position.
Disconnecting the dockside power:
- Switch off all circuit breakers at the boat’s AC panel (including the appropriate distribution switch).
- Switch off the circuit breaker underneath the starboard gunwale.
- Switch off the circuit breaker at the dock outlet.
- Disconnect the dockside power cable at the dock outlet first.
- Disconnect the dockside power cable at the boat inlet.
Please note: If the reverse polarity indicator on the AC panel is
activated, immediately disconnect the dockside power cable and have a
qualified electrician correct the fault.
