Electronic Screen Cleaning
Boat electronics provide critical information about your route, the weather, and your motor(s). Touch screen electronics are convenient and simple to use, making your boating experience even more enjoyable. However, their exposure to the elements, particularly salt spray and dirt and grime from your fingers, require you to give them a little TLC if you want them to continue working their best. Here are a few tips to make cleaning your touch screen electronics simple.
- To wet the screen, use a soft spray setting on your hose.
- If your unit is exposed to salt water be sure to rinse it well before wiping because the salt residue can scratch the screen.
- Clean with a non-abrasive soap and water mixture. Cleaners that include chemicals like ammonia, alcohol, or any acidic liquid will remove the anti-reflective film and cause the display to spot.
- Remove excess water from the screen with a microfiber or soft cotton cloth.
- Always gently wipe the screen. Hard rubbing can remove the anti-reflective coating.
