Expert Tips for Fuel System Winterization and Maintenance
Customers often ask if they should keep their fuel tanks empty or full during winter storage. If you research the subject, you will find people recommending both options, which is confusing for some Grady customers.
Our Customer Relations Representatives have the answer: They note that tanks should be kept filled when the boat is not in use for more than a week or two. This is to reduce the accumulation of moisture and condensation.
In addition, they recommend adding a stabilizer to fuel that won’t be used within 60 days. If using E10 gasoline you should use a stabilizer specifically designed for alcohol blended fuel.
Since we’re on the topic of fueling your boat, Customer Relations also recommends stopping the fuel pump/nozzle as soon as it clicks off. “Topping off” your tanks is not recommended.
